Kevock Vale Park is a small and tranquil retirement park nestled on the banks of the river North Esk, in the village of Lasswade, near Edinburgh. Our self-catering lodge is open all year, sleeps up to 4 adults, and children are welcome. It is the perfect holiday location for people looking for a place to relax in peace and quiet, yet offers lots to see and do on your doorstep. It's a great base for exploring Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and the Borders. A short walk into the village you will find two very popular all-day restaurants and bars. The Paper Mill is situated in an historic paper mill and across the bridge is the Laird and Dog Inn. Outside the Laird and Dog, you can catch the 31 and 40 buses. The 31 takes you to the centre of Edinburgh and all its attractions. This route takes you to the National Museum of Scotland, Waverly Station, Princes Street, Haymarket Station and Edinburgh Zoo so you can visit the pandas. You could take a train from Waverly Station across the world-famous Forth Bridge to Fife, or travel the scenic Waverly Line to the Scottish Borders and Sir Walter Scott country. The 40 takes you to Loanhead for local shopping and on to Roslin, where you can visit Rosslyn Chapel, made famous by Dan Brown's book "The Da Vinci Code" and the Roslin Glen Country Park. If you are feeling energetic, there is a picturesque sign-posted walking route along the river North Esk between the Laird and Dog and Roslin, the Chapel and the Country Park. Across the road from the Laird and Dog, you can take the 31 bus to Bonnyrigg for local shopping or take the 40 bus to Eskbank Station on the Waverly Line and to Musselburgh on the East Coast. Local activities include horse-riding, golf, walking and dry-slope skiing. There are local leisure centres close by for swimming and other activities. If you're ready for a quiet time, stay at the park, relax in the lodge or sit out on the deck overlooking the river, go fishing or watch out for local wildlife.
